Oscar Calle — "Chinita" (Editions PRESENCE)

This 1930s Latin track by Oscar Calle et son Orchestre Cubain du Melody's blends Cuban, Tropical, and Rumba musical styles and reflects a time period when its composer (Calle) would have been playing Cuban music in Paris. Fittingly, we pulled "Chinita" from Éditions Musicales Présence, a French music publishing house that specializes in popular vintage instrumental collections.

Raw Soul Express: 1970s — "Emergency" (D2 Music)

Raw Soul Express are a 1970s soul-funk/disco group who originally came out of Miami. The ultra-groovy, horn-filled "Emergency" appeared on R.S.E.'s self-titled 1977 album and is represented by the boutique publishing company d2 Music, which specializes in vintage tunes spanning across multiple popular genres.

Project Gemini & Wendy Martinez — "Ce qui est intact" (Mr. Bongo)

This Sprechgesang-style (speak-singing) collaboration between Project Gemini (Paul Osborne) and French singer/composer Wendy Martinez sounds much older than it really is. Released in 2025, the cinematic and psychedelic "Ce qui est intact" is inspired by French progressive music of the '60s and '70s and is currently part of Mr. Bongo, a Brighton-based record label that specializes in and curates Latin and Brazilian forgotten classics.

Brain Eaters — "Fear Of God" (Cleopatra)

New York '80s horror-punk act Brain Eaters will transport you straight to the nearest cemetery on their dark and distorted "Fear Of God,” which has been selected from Cleopatra Records’ catalog. Based in LA, Cleopatra’s collection specializes in rock’s darker subgenres, including vintage punk, goth rock, industrial, electronica, metal, and space rock.

Siamaura — "Autumn Echo" (Obelisk Music Group)

Here's a truly international collaboration: The strings-led, cinematic "Autumn Echo" is a 2025 track from Siamaura, aka Thai traditional musician Peranya Visitchantaragoon and Brisbane-based violinist Gareth Mewes. It's featured on their three-track self-titled release and distributed by Obelisk Music Group.

Snakeskin — "Bodies" (Tiny House)

Snakeskin (aka Julia Sabra and Fadi Tabbal) are an electronic/dream-pop project based out of Beirut, Lebanon. Their synth-packed selection "Bodies" shudders with pitter-pattering percussion against softly layered, ethereal vocals, which creates an eerie yet gorgeously surreal atmosphere. "Bodies" is on the Beirut-based indie label Tiny House.

Japanese Television — "Moon Invasion" (Believe)

This cool and unsettling instrumental selection from UK-based space-rock outfit Japanese Television first came out in 2022 on the band's debut album, Space Fruit Vineyard. "Moon Invasion" is repped by Believe UK, a full-service music distributor based in London with a focus on independent artists.

Alice Merton — "The Other Side" (Hypersoda)

Alice Merton is a German-Canadian pop singer-songwriter based out of Britain. Her anthemic 2022 single "The Other Side" (from the album S.I.D.E.S.) tells a compelling story of emotional perseverance and comes from the Berlin music publisher Hyper Soda.

Acopia, Daniel Avery — "Be Enough (Daniel Avery Remix)" (Planisphere)

Daniel Avery's chilly, warehouse-ready remix of Acopia's dream-pop track "Be Enough" first dropped in 2024 on a limited-edition 10" vinyl that also housed a dub remix by JD Twitch. Avery's version of "Be Enough" is hectic but exciting, layering scuttling drum machines over soft, glowing synths and Kate Durman's (of Acopia) hushed vocal. Its publisher, Planisphère, is an experimental label based in Paris.

Múskat — "Cathedral" (Múskat Production Music)

The instrumental track "Cathedral" is a truly haunting composition by Múskat, a creative music production house in Reykjavík, Iceland. At only one minute and 32 seconds, “Cathedral” is brief but leaves its mark with its booming, unearthly organ.
