Based in Liverpool, Sentric Music Publishing is an independent music publisher created by emerging songwriters and artists. Its main job is to make sure that songwriters and rights holders are paid fairly, and that every time their music is played — whether it’s online, broadcast, streamed, or live — that they’ll be fairly compensated.
DISCO spoke to Sync Executive Elizabeth Perryman and Senior Creative Executive Molly Johnson at Sentric’s Liverpool offices about their favorite DISCO features, and why starting an account “felt like Christmas every day.”
Teachable moments with the School of DISCO
When Sentric is onboarding new employees, DISCO helps smooth out the process. They can quickly and easily get up to speed on how the platform works by viewing a few training videos on The School Of DISCO. “When we have new people starting, the first place we go to is the School of DISCO. It’s the first point of call and the first place to go to share knowledge,” says Elizabeth.
Sentric Receives Files From Anyone, With DISCO Inboxes
With DISCO Inboxes, Sentric can receive files from anyone, regardless of whether or not they have an active DISCO account. Sentric also told us about how they customize their Inboxes according to teams and projects. “We have more than one [DISCO Inbox]. We tailor them for certain projects that we are working on, and it just keeps everyone nice and in order. And it’s how we receive music,” Elizabeth says.
Organizing Related Tracks with Nesting
In working directly with songwriters, Sentric uses DISCO’s Nesting feature to organize all related versions of every track, from remixes and instrumentals to different versions and stems. “Once they all nest, it becomes even nicer when delivering to a client,” Elizabeth says. “Being able to link all of that to one main master track, deliver that to an Inbox, and they can just drop down and see everyone within one file.”
“DISCO made things a lot smoother”
From expert file organization to peace of mind in sending unreleased and sensitive material, Molly and Elizabeth agree that using DISCO has “made a lot of things a lot smoother” at Sentric. “When I first started to use DISCO, it just felt like Christmas day every day, to be honest,” Molly says. “[I can] find things very easily, the security of being able to share audio files to certain people, be it internally or externally — you genuinely feel secure in what you are sending. It made things a lot nicer and smoother for sure.”
